The software industry hasn’t matured yet.
SHIIIITTT.
I didn’t realize exactly how BIG this was until today.
I work in partnerships which is a section of the software industry.
I used to see the software industry linearly — we’re just climbing this staircase, and everything is progressing.
In some senses, that’s true, but there’s a bigger picture that I completely missed.
That’s the bigger picture of the era, or the category.
The specific category I’m talking about right now is the software industry. Yes, when you look at the path we’ve been trekking, it seems linear like a staircase.
The truth is, though, it’s a system.
The software industry, itself, is a system, and it’s been building itself overtime.
It’s fascinating to me that even though we didn’t intentionally create the system like this (or at least I don’t think anyone was overseeing the build), we naturally created a complete complex system.
There are so many different pieces and moving parts, but that’s why partnerships is the most complex of all of the roles in SaaS.
It’s the connective tissue between all of the different role-types, teams, and parts.
